Over 160 people from industry, higher education and the student population attended the 2nd Annual Center for Data Science Research Symposium on Thursday, April 27. Seventy-three of those in attendance were members from industry representing 45 companies.
The morning was framed with lightning talks, spotlighting contributions from Google, NVidia, Dell-EMC, and others, along with faculty members describing their industry-sponsored research. Networking sessions were hosted throughout the day, and in the afternoon, faculty- and industrial data scientists-led workshops focused on Machine Learning, Workforce Analytics and Financial Well-being. Sessions were at capacity throughout the day.
Sponsored by the Center for Data Science at UMass Amherst, the Data Science Research Symposium showcases active university-industry research partnerships, provides a forum for technical exchange and professional networking among data science researchers across industry and academia, and facilitates new collaborative efforts to tackle emerging research challenges of practical importance.
