Mercado on Main

September 13, 2018

This year's Holyoke Innovation Week (HIW, April 22-29, 2018) marked the 5th anniversary of the Holyoke Innovation District (HID).

"Mercado on Main”, featuring food trucks, music, games, and 3D printing demos was the kickoff event for Holyoke Innovation Week, a week-long celebration marking the 5th anniversary of the Holyoke Innovation District.
The multi-day event provided opportunities for folks to see, experience, and connect with the people and places that are critical to innovation in the city, and be inspired to join the movement. This new initiative brought food trucks, artisans and farmers together in a festive community event to highlight Holyoke's rich cultural diversity.
MGHPCC participated in HIW with a Holyoke Codes: Mars Robotic Rover Mission. People ages 9 – 109 were invited to build a Mars Rover with our MINDSTORMS EV3 robotic kits, code their own app to control it, then drive out of the space station to complete their mission.
The MGHPCC, a partner in HID, supported the work of the HID by acting as fiscal sponsor for a $10,000 grant from MassDevelopment for the week long event.
