Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Lead Mechanical Engineer will work with the facilities maintenance staff and outside vendors to ensure the efficient operation of the building’s mechanical systems. Responsible for operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and managing the computerized building management system and associated subsystems. This position is an on-site position at MGHPCC in Holyoke, MA.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Ensure the proper operation of mechanical building equipment, systems.
- Recommend necessary parts and supplies for maintenance work and spares inventory
- Maintain records for mechanical work performed within the building
- Coordinate with vendors to maintain HVAC equipment on an ongoing basis as part of the facility’s preventive maintenance program
- Monitor and maintain building management and data acquisition systems
- Maintain sequence of operations (SOO) and preventative maintenance procedures for all building mechanical equipment
- Participate in the following:
- Planning and managing construction activities.
- Participates in scheduling of work orders and repairs
- Scheduling preventive maintenance for mechanical building equipment
- Conduct necessary troubleshooting and testing of mechanical equipment to determine malfunctions or causes of breakdown; remove and replace faulty parts, sub-assemblies and major components; re-test repaired equipment and make adjustments for proper operation
- Install, repair, adjust, service and maintain low voltage electric control systems used for building heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment, including calibration of related instruments, gauges and control components
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):
- Graduate of a technical or trade school
- Five years’ experience within the past ten years carrying out mechanical and electrical maintenance
- Ability to read blueprints, control sequences and have a clear understanding of codes and regulations
- Have supervisory experience with mechanical contractors
- Be familiar with building management systems in a facility of similar size and scope
- Be familiar with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and associated software programs
- Be familiar with information technologies as they relate to data center operations, including networking, cabling and equipment best practices.
- A willingness to participate in an on-call program sharing responsibilities, including days, evenings, and nights as well as weekends and holidays as required
